Somehow, Sutherland pulls off singing a part for an 18 year old girl at the age of 58. The Act 4 mad scene is far more famous, but this lovely aria is almost as excellent. Intro ends at 2:00.

  • I hadn't heard this and I love it. I'm totally going to look it up for my ipod.

Dare I say this?????? In my stupid, crazy ignorance I personally feel that Sutherland could pull off practically everything she chose to sing. Thank you :)

  • @emma41093 Mostly. :)

I've also gotten my hands on the rare 1968 Don Giovanni with Sutherland as Donna Anna; excerpts forthcoming.

She could sing almost anything, and sang many, many roles....over sixty I believe. Some of those roles may not have been ideal for her, but all were respectable performances. There were still other operas, like La Gioconda, that she looked at, but didn't have time to learn.

  • @CaptFitzbattleaxe Oh you are an angel.....Once I have my birthday money I'm off to spend it all on Sutherland :)
