Jimmy Bivins was one of those fighters who beat the best but not at the right time. He beat both Archie moore and Ezzard Charles but neither ever had the titie when he did. He is the only guy in history that was rated the number one contender at both the light heavyweight division and the heavy weight division at the same time.

What a slugfest! Charles ate a lot of shots looking for the knockout with the hook, yet he made up for the headhunting with good bodywork. Bivins has a good jab.

Great video. Charles is the most underrated fighter in boxing history. It would be nice to see more film of Charles. Too bad film of his fights with Archie Moore do not exist, those would be priceless.

A film of Moore-Bivins V (in which Bivins was stopped in the 9th round) exists and is actually not that hard to find.
I'll see whether I can upload it on youtube sometime in the future. I'm not sure if the quality is any good.
