Let's say, Joss Stone is the first girl of "this generation" that started singing neo-soul-R&B kind of music. Amy Winehouse came later, she has a different style but I think she's just as good as Stone. And those girls that appeared last or this year, Adele, Duffy, Gabriella Cilmi (and more are to appear, believe me)are quite good too, but I think they are just imitating Winehouse (except for Duffy perhaps), and they don't really know where this style came from.

Joss IS one of a kind. There are many Great artists, Not as many Fabulous artists, and even fewer that were just simply born to do what they do. THIS little girl was born to do what she does. I agree with IDOTAMAS statement from 2months ago. Why do people have the need to be negative and rude.....If something isn't your cup of tea, move on! Nobody's forcing you to listen!
As a 47 yr old white woman who grew up on "Mowtown", I understand and Respect her trailblazing talent!

David Byrne is not american, he is scottish, and Brian Eno has nothing to do with that song. This song was written only by David Byrne and released in his 1994 self titled solo album.

I wonder how many of you bashing Joss Stone are actually Artists yourselves. From This Artist She has a style of her own and a voice of her own. She's not trying to live up to anyone elses voice. If you don't like her don't listen to her. Bur for people to lay rude comments to her vocal talents when they have none of their own seems a bit silly. I'd play for and with Miss stone anytime. Show a little love. Quit hating like you know it all. God Bless.

Not going to comment on her version of this song, just the fact that she's an idiot. She's singing a song that she has no idea what it means or even WHO DAVID BYRNE IS! She's a musician. She should know something about music, but she clearly has no idea.

But does this mean she doesn't love music? We can't know everything and she's passing the word - she's singing the song because she thought it was fun when she heard it for the first time.. She just wants to make people feel... I mean.. we all know Britney Spears... but does she make anything worth listening to? :D

Are you guys really into soul music? becuase Joss Stone is nothing compared to Aretha she has a good voice but she is not no prime time vocalists i saw her at a festival and her voice gets very shrilly and she screams to hard.
She is good nut she is not hardly touching Aretha or Lauryn Hill's level

I guess Joss Stone fans are simply into Joss Stone Music - whether it's Soul, Pop, R&B or anything else. We like her music, her voice, the way she performs - she seems to be so free on stage, she just sings out all her feelings...
I'm sure most Joss Stone fans have checked out Aretha Franklin, Lauryn Hill, Janis Joplin, Dusty Springfield and so on - Joss is permanently talking about them, how could they not? ;)
She's not trying to be Aretha or Lauryn. She's trying to spread the message :)
