  • is that a rupp roadster

  • no its a alexander reynolds dirt driver

  • i went to fire up my model 8 on the tiller! if i had the throttle about half way it would have started in one pull! and no choke!

  • its because they leak slowly

the fuel goes into the base of the carb kinda like priming it

  • they leak because people over tighten the 4 screws on the carberator bowl instead of replaceing the carb gaskets. all this does is warp the top half of the carb so it doesnt seal tight. then yes at that stage it leaks and nothing you do seems to fix that. we shall see how the carb i just put on my model 8 does pretty soon! its not warped at all. its got a good tight looking seal. so im hopeing for better results than my last carb i built for it.

  • ddude all old engines wer made not presicion as now days

they didnt have computers to make em perfect

there seals, cylinder, ect are not perfect

i rebuilt my carb it still deos that

thats why it got a fuel shut off

  • i am a beliver in haveing a fuel valve on engines with float carbs! you can shut it off and run the bowl dry and it keeps the carb cleaner, well assuming the top cover of your carb isnt warped (pull it off and put a straight edge between the screw holes to find out.) and you replaced your gaskets, did you remove the venturi and put a little form a gasket under the lip on the top of the venturi where it seals to the bottom of the bowl? they tend to leak there and thats often overlooked.

  • conciter this for instance rolls royce engines made even before 1930 have no head gasket. they were and still are machined to such close tolerances they dont even need a head gasket. but then again they were one of the highest quality engines of there day. briggs were good but not that good. belive me your carb was made to some good tolerances. but over time stuff happens to it that even a simple rebuild wont fix if you overlook it.

  • i have to dissagree with you, and dont get me wrong im not trying to start a heated argument with anyone, but they did have very well built engines some but not all were built precision. true they didnt have computors to speed up the design process and help with calculations, but they had other much slower means of providing precision in there engines.

  • dude mine is belt powered too and it runs excellent, so get one and see for yourself

  • naa sierra is a bitch now lol i dislike her i think she hates me for some unknown reason o well woman are crasy
