First Public Mass-Fr. John Blewett 2/14

Fr. John Blewett, ordained Priest on Friday July 31st, 2009, celebrates his first public Mass (a Missa Solemnis) at St. Norbert's in Roxbury, WI on August 2nd, 2009. The Mass was the ninth Sunday after Pentecost. Following Mass Father Blewett gave the traditional first blessing of a newly ordained priest.

It is traditional for the laity to kiss the hands of a newly-ordained priest after his inaugural mass, in veneration of the Body of Christ, which is held in the priest's hands during the Holy Eucharist.

He did. I didn't have the necessary equipment to connect my camera to the Church PA system and have a mic on the choir at the same time.

i wish my church had the Tridentime Mass,,in fact i wish all Catholic churches would just to back to this, i was so pleased when we made the changes the first Sunday of Advent with the new translations of the mass,,i guess its a start ,,,

Fr. John Blewett is a member of the Society of Jesus Christ the Priest. He says the Novus Ordo and the Tridentine Mass. His choice for his first public Mass was a Missa Solemnis. He worked with the other Priests of the Society to learn both forms of Mass. We are very lucky to have him in our Diocese. With Fr. Blewett we have 6 priests who routinely say the Tridentine Mass.
