I live just across from this station, and I use it fairly often, I can't afford to own a car, so the railway is my only viable link to other parts of the country, but if I wanted to travel to my dads in the north east, I'd have to travel from here in Colne to Blackburn, Change to the York train, change at York to go to Durham, about 4 to 5 hours travel time, when it could be significantly shorter if this line was rebuilt!!!
(and I'm currently 25, not a nostalgic grey haired old fogey!)
@BFCboi Don't talk like a cock !, this is supposed to be a eco friendly country, and cocks like you puts comments on like this.......Bet you ride a push bike or drive and do but moan to everybody else on the roads ?
The only people who want this line open again are nostalgic grey haired folk who like the idea of a just cause, especially when it involves trains! Hardly anybody uses this line anymore, and if anything, the line should terminate at Burnley. Its a Bypass what Colne really needs now.
The railways carry more passengers since the war, yet we are left with so many missing links. Why does the government say there is no money yet spends loads on roads which most people do not want?? I think the pro-road lobby has corrupted our officials. Lets have some honest officials who see the value of Selrap, Woodhead, Waverley, Beverley-York, etc
Millions was spent on electrifying the line through Skipton, so why does East Lancashire have to have a third world rail service? I hope with the ever increasing move of people from road to rail that the Colne to Skipton link AND the Todmorden Curve are reinstated so that the people of Earby, Colne, Nelson, Brierfield and Burnley get the rail services they should have a right to to tap in on the successes of Leeds and Manchester
