When American troops arrived in Nagasaki and stumbled upon one of the cameramen, from the legendary film company Nippon Eiga Sha, shooting amidst the rubble, they promptly arrested him and confiscated his film. The Americans would halt the entire production in fact. When they let it continue, they did so as producers, paying for the production and thus retaining the right to the film - and the right to keep it concealed for decades.

@ofnature676 Only an idiot believes everything the government says. Look. If you want to learn more about the truth you need to do some research on your own. If you want some truth about WW2 look into books for example written by David Irving. He goes right to the documents, first hand experiences, etc for the truth. History is written by the winners. So remember it will always be bias'ed towards their side, as a justification for why they went to war.

@PHeMoX New farts or not, they are and still are more powerful than anything Japan has.. So my point remains.

@PHeMoX we should regret saving American lives at the cost of people that were allied with the Nazis? Attack American, support the mass killing of Jews and this is what should happen.

@Emsworker68 Japan attacked first.. so they are at fault only an idiot would try to argue that.

@magomezga
It would have been immoral not to use these weapons, the alternative would have been millions of deaths both Japanese & American.

@amanda12363 Republican imbecility! "Go Palin" You're proud of killing civilians! That fucking arrogant way of thinking is what has created the Bin Laden of the past and those of future. Let's be clear on this: your country's hipocrisy is well known around the world: We are aware of the real meaning of the America's human rights crusade.... bullshit!! Your proud and defense of this war atrocity is just another evidence of this hipocrisy. 9/11 tears? But Why? You support an atrocity much worse.

@magomezga wtf are you really downgrading america? yes hiroshima didnt do i thowever japan hit America in the heart so we hit them 20 times harder in the fucking heart and yes im proud of my fucking country for being the only country in the world that has enough balls to ever drop an atomic bomb. As yamamoto said they awoke an sleeping giant and they paid the repercussions.

FDR maneuvered Japan into attacking Pearl Harbor; he knew the attack was coming and deliberately kept the local Navy and Army commanders in the dark. Using the broken Japanese codes, the US Navy scored the decisive naval victory at Midway, destroying any threat from Japan to the USA. Were the bombs necessary? For the security of the USA? No. For the unconditional surrender and demilitarization of Japan? Yes. The bombs got rid of Japan's military empire, to the great benefit of her people.

People tend to focus on the atomic bombings. It should be remembered that we did equal or greater damage to many cities with massive fire bombing. As for the morality of it, well I personally don't see much difference between killing a young soldier at the start of his life and the killing of civilians. War itself is an immoral act. I think the laws of war ect. are attempts to make it politically palatable to voters so that wars may continue to be fought.
