  • We lathed out some HDPE and cut acrylic tubing to size. We then glued on bicycle tire tubing over top of the tubing. We have made several types of these wheels. These were the heaviest by far. Our team couldn't use them because of the weight, but we sure had some fun playing with them!

  • Could be, but it isn't yet

  • @dalemcleod it is pretty clear that this could easily be programmed for omnidirectional movement.

  • How is that omni directional?

It only goes forward and turns.

You can get that with 2 (non-omni) wheels and 0-4 casters for balance (0 being like a segway)

I'd like to see it move sideways, which I assume it should be able to do with the right programming.

  • so whats the advantage of using 3 layers of wheels?

this is my teams first year competing and im just trying to get some ideas. I dont think were going to use omni wheels this game, dont really need it, but maybe for next

  • Awesome! My FIRST robotics team just used this kind of drive system with great success.
