If we are talking on a genre term, yaoi over all is just a mature version of shounen ai (not all about sex but mostly on complexions in relationships.) Just like josei is the mature genre of shoujo, and sienen to shounen.

Now if we mean it on its literal term, shounen ai exactly means "boy love" as far as yaoi goes, I have no idea.
