if these professional models can't even walk in them, then how do they expect average people too? i think its reckless for the designer. shoes like that just aren't acceptable on runways. they should be taken more as art forms and used in editorials.

Actually, most models don't usually get paid a lot of money for walking at a designers show. Most of the time they get paid in trade. Like, if they walk a show they get a free pair of shoes, or a bag from the designers. Obviously not all models, but with most of them that is the case, especially for Prada.

Well runway is also see as art as well. If you know what goes on behind the scenes, a designer's collection for a certain season will consist of 100 + clothing pieces and maybe 30 shoes but they always pick the pieces and shoes that will put on the best show so maybe of those 30, 10 will be shown. So the other 20 are mostly likely very wearable.

during recession, heels tend to get higher. I have read this in a fashion magazine. People uses high fashion as a way of escapism.

Not always true. New models usually get paid with clothes but the top models make A LOT of money doing these shows. I read somewhere that Carmen Kass gets paid at least 20,000 a show.
