Amanda reads a story written by Neil Gaiman in her "Who Killed Amanda Palmer" book.

Amanda did an extraordinary job of reading it. Notice how the talking in the crowd drops to near silence not long after she starts reading (and it was a boisterous crowd that night).

It starts "Once upon the olden times, when the trees walked and the stars danced, there was a girl whose mother died ..."

It appears to be a wonderful and, of course, dark adaptation of a theme in a French folktale called Diamonds and Toads

Note: Neil was in the audience.
