Installing a new outlet is a little different than replacing a existing outlet. The wiring is the same but you have the added tasks of installing a outlet box , stripping wires and running the wire to the next box or back to the power panel. It depends on your wire gauge and circuit breaker.

multiply the volts by the amps and then use the 80% rule.

for 15 amp circuit take the volts times the amps 120 x 15 = 1800 then multiply it by 80% = 1400 watts capacity

for 20 amp circuit take the volts times the amps 120 x 20 = 2400 then multiply it by 80% = 1920 watts capacity
