Thanks for posting. I thought I'd hallucinated this as a kid in NY. So many questions... Why was there a king in modern-day (post "Battle of the Bulge") France? Why was the garbage truck in the parade? How did Monsieur Renoir get the movie star to marry the king? Still, I imagine the roundabout navigation of the byzantine European bureaucracy is pretty accurate.

This cartoon was before my time (1967)...but I used to catch the reruns back in the 1970s....and it's one of the more memorable Harvytoons.

I am so thrilled you posted this. Its one of those cartoons i remember fondly and talked about with a childhood friend for years. When ever I am having a bad day. I know I can come here and my mind will wander back to a part of my childhood I remember fondly. Thank you.

Like so many others here, this cartoon was one of my earliest childhood TV memories. I freaked out when I came across it recently. I'll never forget the hilarious repetitiveness of the guy's plea to fix the pothole, and the ending is just hysterical. When I was a kid, I used to sing that song ; well, at least try to. I never fully understood what he was saying, exactly. Anoher thing: I remember truly being creeped out- scared, even- of the ogre face the one guy turns into when he shouts "NO!"

I was searching for this cartoon as well, but my problem was that I saw it in Polish when I was little so I never heard ZEE KING and the rest of fantastic stuff in here. All I remembered was ratatatam ratattam ratatatatatatatatam - bum [garbage] ;)

@chuggachuggawoowoo really incredible how many of us were affected by it, quite remarkable collective unconscious, yes? The song has been in my head since 1966 or so, glimpsed once, never forgotten.

I this is my earliest memory, and I've always wanted to see it again. Must have been 65 or 66 when I saw it, like three years old... thanks so much. I feel kind of emotional now...
Last time I saw it was also over 40 yrs ago as a kid, but when I was in my 20s I was talking to a friend who also knew it. Funny thing is that we both misheard one of the words the same way. We both thought he was saying "Veedishtee" when he really said "Filthy" ("Feelthee").
We thought it was some French word for "disgusting"! Now I feel like an idiot. LOL,

One of my favorite cartoons from my childhood years ('60s).... The song the gent sings gets in your head and stays there! Thanks for posting!
