Even though it's "just" an 80's pop song, the melody is quite unusual and the lyrics ares pretty daring for a _pop_ song that is 25 years old as of 2009.

This is from Howard's debut album, which featured the overplayed "New Song" and "What is love" and the rather overlooked "Human's lib", "Conditioning" and "Hunt the self", among others.

Howard Jones - Human's Lib (1984)

Sometimes I'd like to go to bed
With a hundred women or men
And lose my mind in lust and drink
And to hit some people into feeling good, oh...

Sometimes I'd like to dance in the street
Don't wanna go to work, just wanna lay in bed all day
Why don't you then
Why don't you then

Life just seems oh so meaningless
And who can blame us for wanting these things
But you just try being free my friend
And everyone will hate your guts, I only want to be free...

  • A great album from which came this brilliant album-titled track

Finally bought the album as my tape just doesn't cut the mustard now

I played this over and over again thro 83 and 84

  • go hojo u da man!

  • Love it! And as a 10-year-old I always thought the opening line was a bit odd. Now I just think he's a greedy man :D

  • @furyplum44 OMG! this is awesome! havent heard this one before! :D

  • @GlitzPianoman

I thought it said the lyrics were written by Bryant only in the CD insert.

either way your probably right though.

  • @ransmyr Nah, I'm more of the mind he liked to keep his lyrics open enough to apply to anybody. His lyrics tend to have a world view, and the "bisexual" line certainly reflects this.

  • @ransmyr If only ;)

  • Makes me wonder if Howard was bi?
