  • the musicianship here is great, love the recordings fro this era, and it's incredible to ponder how far they'd have gone with Pig. But--unpopular opinion--I prefer the later, slower TLEO with Donna, such a beautiful song in some of the later 70s shows (77 Ithica NY the obvious example)

  • sounds kind of like deep elem's rhythm

  • @TOPHERHARPER Complete originality. Damnit im so jealous.

  • @Goat5611 Hahahaha 4:20, but of course!

  • @troyquin The early versions were great, but jerry reached some incredible peaks in other versions later, and they actually sped up the song again in the 80's an 90's,...check these two out.. 8-8-82 and 6-6-91, which is on you tube... from alpine and deer creek, respectively.. I think you'll enjoy them, as the song had time to develop and the interplay becomes quite tasty, while there was just a hint of that in 73.... Similar to a song like Half Step, which really grew wings in the late 70's.

  • I wish someone could tell me why they slowed this tune down after '73. Love this version best. Can this be listened to while sitting completely still??? I doubt it. Nice post, thank you!!

  • Man, amazing how the tempo can change how great a song is. Never dug the '76-78 versions I had heard, but this is a different story, feels young. Dead is great for how their music evolves and is unique to the year.

  • I was at this show and will never forget the soulful spiritual way they played

"HE"S GONE" just one week after Pigpens passing. Eyes of the World was another

    memorable keeper indeed.
