Everyone forgets what an awesome and landmark scene this is.

WELL DONE

at that time in history very few states and countries allowed women to vote. most women didn't hold jobs outside the home, except for the secretaries, shopkeepers, or factory workers. Men back then believed themselves to masters of the universe.
-
@Ih8bureaucracy Being oppressed by males? That is so much horseshit. It was a majority of men (and ONLY men) who granted women the right to vote. At the time this movie takes place, only 5% of men were allowed to vote.
The idea that men have been oppressing women is toxic, hateful, rabble-rousing, and completely untrue. I can't tolerate anybody spreading around such vitriol. It's resulted in sexual harassment laws, which have destroyed the lives of countless innocent men.

@loqutor You are, of course, allowed to make any joke you want (I'm assuming you know "A Hymn to Him" is meant to poke fun at men who don't understand women). If your wife doesn't like it, that's an issue between you and her. If you're afraid others will shut you up, it's probably because you know that women have a long history of being oppressed by males. But go ahead make any joke you want. No one will stop you. If it's in the right spirit, you may even get some laughs.

Anyone else realise that Mrs Banks is clearly a witch at 1:18.. clearly made the woman go instantly quiet

i love the cooks!
theyre so funny :L

@Yermog Just recognize that you're actually allowed to make the joke. If I said I would sing "A Hymn to Him" to my wife whenever she got uppity, I'd get lynched twice.
-
@ZimbaZumba Thank you! I never heard of that and it is a very interesting fact.
-
@loqutor It was a joke, in case you couldn't tell from the emoticon.
