In this first video I interview Rod Muller of Goolwa, South Australia and get to drive his converted Suzuki Alto. This is the first in a series of videos which will follow the progress of the conversion of a Holden Barina (Suzuki Swift) to electric drive. For more info see www.evric.kestar.com.au

  • any idea on the hp number this set up makes?

  • @panoulis20 - Approx 8 HP.

  • If you use an AC motor/controller system, these can have high voltages of around 300Volts and higher.

  • i have heard about 500 V systems .... - would that be a good thing ????

  • Nice Job.

In the early days of conversions, people used a 48 volt system with starter motor. The result was a public preception that EV's were slow. We're still trying to live that down.

A 96v-156v system is the norm today. The old starter motors have been preplaced with larger power plants designed to go in EVs.

Most drivers will need more power and range than this EV can provide. But if it serves your needs, then great!

  • Nice!

  • Fine Biz!
