Yeah, I'm not a huge fan.
Tokyo is probably a bit on the expensive side, but anywhere else and you'd be fine. Just come here on an English-teaching job (which is one of the only reliable ways for a foreigner to stay here, unless you're a student) and you'll have no problems. =)

The gay bars sound like they suck. The prices sound very steep. Does the cost of living over there mirror the average wage? I wonder how well a white boy like myself would do over there.

Yeah my Tokyo place is gonna be way smaller! And about $200 more expensive every month =( That's what it takes to make it in the big city, I suppose...
