Healthy Teen Relationships

This public service announcement was created for parents of teens to raise awareness about teen dating violence. Teens in dating relationships can experience issues with power and control. These may be in the form of hitting, slapping, pushing, verbal insults or more subtle forms of intimidation like controlling behaviors such as the text messages shown in the video.

Relationship violence is a highly underreported phenomenon. Teens are often reluctant to talk about violence that may be occurring in their relationship because they associate it with love. Prevalence of teen dating violence has been estimated as low as 9% and as high as 57%. The most highly reported statistic is that 1 in 3 teens will experience some form of abuse in a dating relationship.

Patterns of controlling behavior can highly influence an individual's health. Among today's tech-savvy teens, text messages are a primary form of communication, that parents may not see. Text messages can serve as a conduit for abuse and control for teens in unhealthy relationships. With most domestic and teen dating violence, much of the abuse happens in private. If we can talk to teens about dating violence and teach them to recognize healthy relationships, it may protect them from violence in their relationship and ensure safety in their adult relationships.

If that was true, every homeless person would pray for food and everything but my God knows what he does for a reason! & I stand by my faith with pride. @KeeraJordan let me correct you. Your atheist and i'm a Christian. We pray cause we want support from God but also God knows that we have do to something for ourselves. Lets say I pray I pass a test, no I have to study but I study and pray in the name of God that he will help me ace the test. You may not know this cause your atheist but in Bible it says: everything you do, do it in the Name of the Lord.
