Remake of his 1960 arrangement of this Cole Porter tune for his tribute album to Frank Sinatra, titled "My Way"; rehearsal and recording videotaped by Warren M. Pischke on July 13, 1998
@ 7:54 - I am laughing so hard! Stephanie Bennett plucks a single hanging-in-the-air-by-itself note on her harp...and then she smiles, winks, and flutters her eyebrows up and down. Such a delightful personality!!
This musical genre is so sorely missed. The bossa nova beat is right there. It's so positive, so alive. It makes you want to jump right in and play along regardless of one's musical ability.
Such a fascinating piece of footage of Ray Conniff and his singers and orchestra here. One doesn't often get to see behind the scenes like this but I for one really enjoyed watching this. Top that off with the great music they perform and you end up with a real treasure. Wonderful!
I love the ray conniff.i think that his songs are a milestone for the music world ... he knows how to make music and very well done. My name is Rafael and I'm passionate about folk music primarily madeby the maestro Ray Conniff and his orchestra
As always, Manfred, you've brought more joy to this lifelong Conniff fan (55 years and counting...since 1955!!) Perhaps one of the session musicians or the 'singers' could shed a bit of light on this question: From the handing out of the charts to the final take, what would be an estimate of the amount of time spent rehearsing and recording just one tune?? These are all union musicians, so time is money!
