Thank you for this info!! I am contemplating Thymectomy next month for MG that I was diagnosed with 6 months ago. Managing it with Mestinon, but have to take 6 pills per day to see well (ocular). I am otherwise very healthy, so am leaning towards getting this surgery in order to try and slow onset of other symptoms of MG. Why did you not get a robotic minimally invasive Thymectomy? I am researching that I know there are risks with that surgery also, but a much easier recovery...
@SayGoodnight18 For SsayGoodnight18 - I had the submammary (under the breast side to side) type of incision for my thymectomy about a year ago (Dec. 14, 2010) - I think it was probably about 6 weeks before I could put on a bar - and then I wore a sports bra. I started out with the Jockey brand that actually hooked (with velcro) in the back because to pull on a sportsbra over your head is going to be really painful... then later I moved into a sportsbra I could pull on over my head.
Hi, I'm 20 and getting a thymectomy next week. They're going to cut under my breasts to hide the scar better, what kind of bra would you recommed for that (if one at all) and how painful do you think it would be? worse then cutting down your chest? I just want to know what to expect....
I am currently undergoing tests for MG. It is a very scary time for me as I don't know why or how I got this. It is reassuring to see your video. Thank you!
Thank you so much! I too suffer from MG and it is a great sacrifice to tell your story in this medium. I hope you are feeling better each day and the thymectomy puts you into true remission. Oh, and I totally agree with you on bringing your own clothes to the hospital. There is nothing worse than those darn gowns:) Slippers are great too because walking encourages healing and there are so many germs for the footies to pick up off the floor.
I'm trying to find newer posts. How are you doing?

P.S. I do have Thyroid problems - just had a biopsy for a nodule this past week. All of these autoimmune problems are quite related I believe...
