early-model, no ERA T-72 that's packed with explosives being defeated by the latest top-attack TOW missile.

Why don't we also include pictures of that M1A2 that got penetrated frontally on the turret by an RPG-29?

    oh wait, that's bad propaganda.

The T-72's in syria don't explode like this. You've never seen a syrian T-72 take fire and be destroyed, have you?

Actually, the carousel magazines don't 'Always blow the turret off'. If you'd bother to actually find videos of real T-72's being hit, you'd know that the T-72 in this video is definitely packed with explosives. There is a very good video of a T-72 being hit and catching on fire on other video sites - the turret does not pop off. Also, that RPG-29 hit was on the front of the turret. img266.imageshack.us/img266/7386/rpg29vert.jpg

Defo not a 'Side Hit' and if it wasn't an RPG29, what was it?

Look at the gulf war and you will see plenty of T72s explode like that. The ones in Syria suffered the same fate has this one.

That T72 wasn't filled with explosives you can obviously see the ammo rack which I think is right below the turret ring exploded which almost always blows the t72s turret off. for the rpg 29 story the Abrams was penetrated on the side of the turret Abrams is not invincible the tank manufactures never said it was.

Of course there's no guarantee that the magazine is going to explode, and I'm not saying it's impossible that the tank actually IS stuffed with explosives. However, drawing such a conclusion is not all that reasonable considering the ammunition contained within would be more than enough to blow the tank apart. There are plenty of actual wartime videos out there proving this well enough, as I'm sure there are plenty of wartime videos of tanks burning without detonation of the ammunition within..

It's not dangerous to infantry at all. If the infantry is exposed enough to be effected by ERA on the front of the tank, two things.

    A. the infantry is not in cover

    B. they will be deaf if that cannon fires.

If it wasn't an RPG-29, what was it? a shitty old RPG-7?

The tank was effectively disabled because the crew fucked off before they got hit again. The repair was a factory job. Not a catastrophic explosion or KO, but a big effort to fix.

It was never proven that was an RPG-29, and even if it was, the tank was not disabled by the penetration. Anyway, it's not like you can't put reactive armor on an M1 too - US military doesn't as a matter of combat doctrine since it's dangerous to supporting infantry.
