From the Sept. 30, 1970, episode of "The Johnny Cash Show," the Carter Family (with Mother Maybelle on autoharp) do their classic "Rocky Top," then Cash jumps right in and he and June follow with "Daddy Was An Old-Time Preacher Man" with the entire ensemble.

@maruku86 Johnny said in an interview that he preferred to work with people who had experienced professional family group singing, as they tend to have closer harmony and a better sense of group improvisation. Hence, the Carter Family, Don & Harold Reid (Statler Bros.), Robbie Harden (Harden Trio), the Gatlin Bros. and Tompall & The Glaser Bros.

@cawo77 Agreed! Robbie Harden has a beautiful voice, which you don't get the opportunity to hear very often. Even when she was in the Harden Trio, she was often in the background of her brother Bobby and more famous sister Arlene :/

Tremendous as always from the carters along with Robbie Hardin, they were magnificent, the queen of the autoharp also did a fantastic solo which was awesum. Long live the carter sisters and Maybelle.

It was nice to hear Robbie Hardin's voice in the lead on Rocky Top. Their harmony was always so tight it was hard to hear here. She was a good blend with the others when June was on leave.
