You're so right. I don't know what kind of problem KingDon has with our national hero but I live in Germany and I assure you that the whole country is plastered with golden statues of the the Hoff! When I look out of my window here in Cologne I see a 25 m high Hasselhoff wrestling Gorbachev cunningly crafted from pure marble... we shall never forget what this noble man did for our country!

The last time I've heard of him was in the middle 80ths to the beginning 90ths when the TV series 'Knightrider' and 'Baywatch' was brodecasted in the German TV I enjoyed watching them, when I was a child *lol*

@jephybean ...you see, Americans are generally considered demi-gods over here (again - The Hoff is still ranking even higher because of his merits) because we Germans owe them a heap. Just imagine - before McDonalds, KFC and Burger King arrived, German fastfood consisted allmost entirely of sausages and sauerkraut. It was terrible!

@jephybean There definitely is. It only has been gold-plated last year cause the marble looked a bit run down after a couple of years. Also the pigeons kept shitting on him - so authorities had all the birds shot in and around the city. Allthough it's a little bit quiet in the parks now (especially during spring time) it was definitely worth it - The Hoffs fame is shining even brighter after the renovation! As for your question about Timberlake, Gaga and the likes...

@torbolski so... is there really a statue like that? I'm amazed at how some American performers are considered jokes in their own country, but are mega superstars in other countries. Alyssa Milano is a wonderful American actress, but not a good singer, yet in Japan, she was extremely successful. David Hasselhoff is laughed at here, yet we are told in Germany he is like Elvis Presley was here. What do you they think of Justin Timberlake, Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber or Bruno Mars?
