  • It's the only foundation I will use. The absolute best!

  • Hello!

You would need to create a balance of iron oxides and ultramarine blue to create a skin-tone color. There are some kits at Monave that could help you get started, or you could just try your hand at it. The pigments need to be blended to create the color before you add it to the sunscreen....hope that helps!

    Thanks, D

  • Hello.

I am looking into making my own sunscreen as the brand I use, which is made by a dermatologist, is going out of business.

The sunscreen mainly consists of zinc oxide, olive oil and beeswax. But, I'd like to add some color to it so that my face does not appear so white (due to the zinc oxide). Would it be possible to just add brown iron oxides until I get the desired color, or should I use other colors as well?

  • As a very fair skinned, non-freckled brunette I often find that my skin tone is completely ignored as if it doesn't exist. There is this odd belief that all fair skinned women are red heads or blondes and all brunettes are medium skinned. Fair foundation often has cool pink undertones even though most women have warm undertones. Celtic brunettes like myself exist too! Glad to find a company that knows there are more skin tones than what is defined just by hair color.

  • i just posted a tutorial for them...it has to be the best makeup i have ever tried thus far :)

  • my cousin works at Monave!!

  • @puppibanana

I'm guessing because red, yellow + blue = brown

  • I'm curious about the use of ultramarine blue, what is it for?

  • That's cool how u make powder foundation like that.

  • Good point! This was a demonstration only, not a 'real' session. We use good manufacturing practices with all of our products. There are videos with folks wearing masks, but it's very muffled to speak through a mask!

  • no gloves or mask? i hope this one wasn't put on the shelf

  • What a great product! I love that you took the time to show the process of creating the makeup; makes me feel a lot better about buying the makeup just because I am able to see how much work goes into it by hand!
