NOTE: This is a revised upload -
April 9th, 1968... The NBC Television Network (USA) aired a 1-hour special... "PETULA" starring Petula Clark. She chose a rather unique location to film her performance of the song titled, "Live for Life"... the RMS Queen Mary! On December 9th, 1967, after almost 32 years of passenger service, the British ocean liner Queen Mary officially ended her last voyage, arriving in Long Beach, California. Her "Last Great Cruise" was a 39 day voyage from Southampton, England, traveling down around Cape Horn and up the Pacific coast. Shortly after her arrival, the Queen Mary went through a massive 3-year conversion to a static-floating hotel, museum and convention centre. Petula's performance would be the last opportunity to experience the Queen Mary intact and untouched before this conversion took place. Luckily, Petula's performance was preserved along with the rest of her 1-hour special. So lets take a step back in time... back to 1968... and enjoy Petula's wonderful performance.
"PETULA" is available on DVD through Universal Music & Video Distribution, Universal City, California
Manufactured through Varese Sarabande Records, Inc. Studio City, California
You can find this DVD and other titles and albums of Petula Clark through her official website,

A wonderful program indeed! And thanks for the interesting subtitles... but is there any chance to see the original version? :)

What a simply marvelous treasure of a film! It was a thrill to see the magnificient Queen Mary thanks to the lovely Petula Clark before the amazingly stupid and destructive 'renovations' that began not long after she filmed her special here. It is so poignant to see her stroll about the beautiful ship as it was intended to be and hear her singing "Live for Life" as she gives viewers 43 years later a unique look at the ship as it sat for several months, alone and deserted. Long Live The Queen!

@Abricialio The last owner of the Queen Elizabeth was from Hong Kong, not Japan. There are unproven theories that his son, angered by the money his father spent on the ship, set it ablaze in an act of revenge. He was converting for usage as a floating university. Prior to him investors in Florida had purchased it and were using as a tourist atraction - similar to the Queen Mary - but were forced to clse it after loosing money and when authorities delcared it a fire hazard.

The Queen Elizabeth from 1938... if she wasn't purchased by Japanese people in 1969 she would have been just next to the Queen Mary as a hotel. Search up "RMS Queen Elizabeth", she was a sister of the Queen Mary in Long Beach. Such a shame that the liner went up in flames. :(
Lets pray that nothing will happen to the Queen Mary in the future, and that she will take a part of the "100 years" Titanic remembrance.

I did not see this when it aired before because I was working gigs when it aired. I have performed this song for many years and loved the film of the same name. Thanks for posting this.
