Blinded by Light (Final Fantasy XIII) on violin and piano (duet with joshi3joshi)

This is "Blinded by Light", the battle theme from Final Fantasy XIII. Music composed by Masashi Hamauzu, arranged for violin and piano by joshi3joshi and myself. Alright, so this concludes the epilogue of the request special. This was requested by 1just12comment and LoneWolfOnTheHeights (who requested Lightning's Theme which is basically a different version of this, kinda). Sorry for the delay, guys! But we both feel this video was worth investing a bit more time into, and I am very pleased with the result. I haven't played FFXIII yet, but I love the soundtrack and I think Hamauzu did a great job on continuing Uematsu's line of work with the series. The battle theme is one of my favorites and it just has that quality that an amazing theme needs, I wouldn't mind listening to it for hours. IMHO the battle music is the most important music in an RPG as you end up listening to it for a majority of the playing time, and a mediocre battle theme can really have a bad impact on an otherwise well designed RPG (vice versa, too, at least for me). Now this battle theme is downright fantastic, it has a great vibe and it really engages the listener.

As my part was done under time constraint in december, it isn't all it could be, but given the circumstances, I think it still turned out to be somewhat acceptable. Also, we tried to build a bridge to Uematsu's work at a couple of points - who can see what we did here? :)

Once again, big thanks to my collaborators for participating in the request special, and big thanks to my viewers for vividly being a part of this and making this possible. At this point I have no idea how my channel will or can continue this year, there will be some changes soon and I might still need to take a break or retire. But I can tell you that I at least want to do this again in the future, as it was a really great experience for me and it put lots of great music on my channel for which I am grateful to you all.

im curious, on your main page, you said you've played on and 'off', when you were 'off' does, what does that entitle to? no playing whatsoever? or you were just playing for the 'fun of it' with no teachers/progression in mind? thanks.

@xKurogashi Hi, yeah during those 'off' periods, I didn't play at all. That was for several years, and then I restarted. I would think that during the 25 years I've played, at least 5 were breaks in one form or another. Many greetings

Hamauzu could never replace Uematsu. But he does a damn good job anyway.

@AeonCommander hm you know, as much as i like uematsu, i gotta say, the more i get into this soundtrack, the more i think that hamauzu should have been there in the first place. he is seriously underappreciated.
