  • You won't find harmonies like this too often. The Mills Brothers were fabulous songsmiths, but sadly were held back in their career by the inbuilt racism which held them back from performing at major venues. It was simply not allowed to have black entertainers as a major popular situation, but luckily we have access to all their wonderful recordings.

  • This is the best!!!

  • @conmaesta washtub bass, the metal of a washboard removed from it's wooded frame and played with thimbles - The BROTHERS great then and now.

  • @notlongtolive

I grew up with their music, I never saw their color, their voices made me, and hopefully most of America, color blind. Actually, I believe the Mills Brothers contributed to America's awakening. What I mean is that because of the grace, dignity and professionalism they displayed many Americans didn't see color, just talent.

  • bless u and the music for great memories

  • @nachodaddy what was wrong with what he said? Yes, Cole had a tv show, but white business men wouldn't give Cole sponsorship so his tv show lasted for only 38 show. Racial matters kept all black artist second rate, regardless of the money they made.

  • @notlongtolive You're a fuckin' jerk. Where were you when Nat King Cole had a TV show? Incredulous that an idiot like you has the highest rated comment.

  • My father a white man used to have a live radio show in Charleston, WV and all the songs they sang were The Mills Brothers original songs. The Mills Brothers crossed all lines with their wonderful voices.

  • You're kidding right?? Strings screwed up all of the early black combos. They wouldn't let them play their music

  • Great - but has anyone got the El Paso album? Dying to get hold of it!

  • Wonderful to hear "strings" accompaniying them. What a joy.

  • Do you have "Daddy's Little Girl", and if so, could you please post it? It was up on You Tube about a year ago, but the link no longer works and I can't find it by typing in the title. - writeroffthelake at geneva-on-the-lake (ohio)
