anyway, only the Persian gulf countries have made any sort of fortune off of oil. however, that doesn't mean there was no industry whatsoever in these nations before their exploitation by western multinational, imperial organizations. most Persian gulf countries made an all right amount of money from pearling, and most coastal regions were home to Roman-era trading centers. ever heard of the "Indian ocean maritime trade route?"

the United Arab Emirates is notable for deplorable working conditions and rampant inequality. qatar has made far more successful plans for development.

thankfully for the Persian Gulf, Qatar exists as a very good model for a relatively stable Middle East development. unlike some of the other countries of the "oil crescent," Qatar is working to improve humanitarian, sanitary, educational, and economic conditions (i.e. diversifying its industries).

I loved living in Qatar and what a wonderful country!

why can't all muslim countries be like the following:

Qatar
UAE
Kuwait
Egypt

coz we like to be different
