  • where the hell is the organ?!?!?!?!?!?!

  • @paulybarr Absolutely paulybarr, why oh why did this orchestra and Gergiev choose to perform this momumental symphony in a concert hall that doesn't have a bloody organ? The soprano soloists are not in tune and whole thing sounds amateurish and weak. Rattle's NYOGB posting takes some beating, I agree - just wonderful! I'm off the RAH to hear this on 15th of this month - can't wait!

  • @lewars1912 worlds tiniest pipe organ... no wonder we can't hear it.

  • @Triplefunk85 You have it in your hand.

  • No organ? You have got to be kidding. Also, the brass sounds exhausted (which they probably are -- it's a fifty five minute movement). Horseman, pass by.

  • I usually love Gergiev but this is an awful interpretation to be honest! Flat, boring and lifeless

  • And Haitink!

  • Just watched Valery and Mariinsky in Rome last Friday with the fouth of Mahler. I own many performances of Mahler symphonies from Bernstain to Rattle the best being Solti and Ricardo Chaylly but none of them could compare to the beauty of the sounf of this Russian orquestra in the hands of Valery Gergiev. Would like to have his integral of Mahler preferably in video if available. Do anybody now if this is available and how to acquire?

  • @longeaton34 who cares about rattle?

  • The tempi are all foreign to the score. And I agree with Triplefunk85 -- I was waiting for the organ entrance and it didn't happen.
