Tall Buildings project 2008 Group 3B. Zenith Tower by Basma Al-Husseini and Ruba Salib, in London's Canary Wharf. SBE Nottingham. The tower is multiuse, with accommodation capsules attached to a stiff tower containing the core.
"The Zenith Tower: In response to Canary Wharf's mono-functional fabric, the scheme introduces a series of breathing spaces; social and business incubators spread throughout the site. The building emerges as a tree like structure with a central core mimicking a tree's rigid trunk. The Tower's branches grow in response to daylight where each façade is treated differently according to its orientation. The south façade is comprised of animated double skin with manually operable Photovoltaic (PV) Integrated windows that can be manipulated according to the sun angle. The treatment of the façade is inspired by Phototropism in plants. The concentration of PV increases towards the top."
