Haltering Canela has been an ongoing evolution. I thought I had him figured out, but he still was not happy with how I was haltering, probably because it involved a mid-line catch at the neck. He appears to have issues about hands near the neck. He probably thinks I am going to grab him. Since we had already done some clicker training to get him to put his face straight into a halter, I decided to try a full frontal haltering method with him. He seems to be comfortable with it. Canela lives with is pal, Gypsy, in Homer, Alaska.

  • Gypsy is the easiest fellow to halter. Canela is now improving with this new method. I must love that he now lets me do it wherever we are in the pen.

  • Nina, you can come and halter my llamas; I have haltering problems for the whole of England ! ! At times I simply resort to neck collars.( Well.. they've sufficed in S. America for thousands of years).

Well done with both of yours.
