  • Thanks, I'm glad you like it. Yes, I have a C6 Lap Steel song book, tablature w/CD. my web site is playsteelguitar . com

  • Love your playing...what is the address for your website? I see that you commented that you have a book or CD on how to play lap steel. I have been playing for about a year and truly love it. Hope to someday sound as smooth as you.

  • Hi, quick question. Hopefully you can answer it. I recently inherited a double neck lap steel guitar from my grandpa who died about 8 years ago. It hasn't been touched since. Needs a little bit of work.

Anyways, I know that the near neck is tuned to Standard C6 tuning. Would you happen to know what the other neck tuning might be? I know I could tune it to whatever, but I'd like to learn to play in standard tuning before experimenting.

    Thanks,

    Dan

  • The most common tunings for double-8 string are C6 and E13. That's not to say that your guitar definitely has E13 on it, but it might. There are many variations of E13.... the notes needed are D, E, G#, B, C#

  • @steelguitar3 Thank you very much! Which E13 voicing do you prefer?

  • This is the version I like. It includes an F sharp

    E, C#, B, G#, F#, E, D B (high to low)

  • Thanks so much for your kind words. I'm glad you like the video! I always loved the original tune by Dean Martin... one of my favorite old songs, Cheers!

  • This is my favorite video on YouTube. I am totally enthralled with this performance and listen to it every time I want to relax or calm down. Absolutely stunning. I wish I could play my lap this well...

  • Thanks! Yes, to expand the C6 tuning to 8 strings, I suggest adding a high G and a low A. There are other ways to expand it, but that one makes the most sense to me. So the 6 string tablature will work on the middle 6 strings, and the high G is very useful... fewer slants needed. Cheers!
