after all these years I always remember this song, I wonder why? I loved eurovision song contests. They were a real family event.
But not now, you cannot tell whos country is singing. The national identities have been lost.
The scoring is a joke too.

Answering Dilettanten: the song got points because it had one of the most important messages a song that represents a nation can have: it spread the wish of Norwegian People to keep their land unspoiled. And after a small introduction, the message of a Sami chant was sung and sent... with no words... much before the "ethnic music" trend of the 90's. Wonderful moment. One of the highest ones in ESC history (although not easy to understand to many). Long live Norway. Hugs from Lisbon, Portugal

Um..Norway and Ireland are BOTH fine countries with strong economies strong people. joemanc70, allot of people are of irish descent and we ARE known for our tempers. And the people of Norway were the VIKINGS. Try not to say stuff like that, okay?

Maybe i'm the only one in Europe to think this... but I actually like this song, especially the second half, it's one of those tunes that sticks in your head & doesn't go away!I actually picked this as a winner!!!!
