  • When the children of ALL congressmen serve, then my son will

  • Equality doesn't have to mean making women register for the Selective Service just like men. It can also mean ending the Selective Service for everybody.

  • Why do I feel that Hillary is lying through her teeth when she says that she supports registering women?

  • I don't want a draft of any sort, but if there is one, why SHOULD it be male only? Some of the arguments here are sickening, as if people think their genitalia entitle them to be protected at the costs of less worthy male lives. Most military roles are non-combat, there's plenty else to do, so you can't even use physical differences as an excuse. Again though to make it clear, I'm against a draft of any sort, but also against the sense of entitlement here.

  • @JBlue761982 well, when you take a quick glance at it, I would say the same thing, but the truth is if we didn't get all the people to fight for our country from drafts, we would have alot less manpower, and probably lose more armed conflicts.

  • I think that neither men nor women should have to register....

  • the draft is slavery. when the democraps trying and impose universal service is the day the uprising begins.

  • Most argue that women are in the military now, so...but there are other things and jobs at home that need to be done. Someone has to be at home, too. Just not an easy decision.

  • I see the point you are trying to make. I think I somewhat misunderstood where you were coming from, and I apologize for that.

  • Again, I'm merely speaking from the standpoint of if there was no other choice, from some crazy situation. I'm all for getting rid of it entirely.

  • There is no need for a military draft. There are enough citizens who want to help protect this country. There was no draft in the 1990s when the military was downsized.

An article from the New York Times in 1995 said, "President Clinton gave a grudging go-ahead today to closing or consolidating 105 military bases. The shutdowns, a consequence of the end of the cold war, are expected to save billions of Federal dollars but put tens of thousands of people out of work."

  • That would be the most ideal thing, of course. I meant that if it somehow became the only solution somehow.
