notice the added oomph once the mig 17 after burner kicks in. the video (taken with panasonic lumix dmc tz3) doesn't really convey the volume of the sound, but it's not too bad if you turn up the volume and have a sub-woofer attached. this was also taken at 2009's willow run thunder over michigan. it's rare to be so close to the action at an airshow and to shoot a full frame high res video of this kind of action. it's pretty high quality but i still wish i had brought a tripod.

  • Thx for sharing this mate ! It's not too often to see the sight such as ... THUMB UP :)

  • @Damir1able You're very welcome, thanks for leaving a note. It is appreciated!

  • Sweet!

  • @WakeUpDummies: Thanks, if you ever get a chance, it's even better LIVE

  • Awesome...which airshow and airbase is this ?

I dont have much of a likking for the MiG-17 or F-4 but yes considering the clumsiness of the phantom, it was a beautiful fighter

  • It's at the 2009 Thunder over Michigan. Willow Run Airport. I was lucky to get THAT close.

  • @blinkwin look further down the runway, it did burn, much better than the Phantom.

  • look at the mig in full afterburner, no trail at all...

  • DAMN!!!!! me like!!!

  • LOS ANTIGUOS ARCHIRIVALES

  • Will, it's been awhile since you came to Lancaster and we hope to see you again soon. You rocked at our air shows and scared me once. HA HA.

  • @ccblack1 i notice that too. maybe it was the camera angle. my dad worked on f4s and they are a nightmare. i bet it cost more than a $100.00 to fuel that bird up.

  • Anyone notice it looks like the left engine in the Phantom didn't get a fully lit afterburner ? ( sure took off like a bat out of hell though ) I bet a privately owned F-4 is a maintenance nightmare. Looks beautiful !

  • We have had a few past from DMAFB and god damn are they loud at full AB.
