In the Chrisitan church they are joining they'll be able to choose how they dress, and what consumer items they buy - though learning to make these decisions for the first time, as an adult, can be difficult.

He would be better sticking to the horse and buggy. As a teenager I was given a harness horse in 1967. And found a hooded four wheel buggy that had been in a shed for forty years without use. Just greased the wheels and a few items checked and i was off down the road. The time is coming when we must return to practical skills, as we are being led into an ever unsustainable lifestyle.

@callahan9119 and did a very good job at covering a wide range of their attitudes, practices, ideology, methods and beliefs. If you had seen that programme rather than 'commenting on a 5 minute video clip' you would have seen the section where the younger members are fully indoctronated into the 'ways of the world' before they begin the amish lifestyle. You confuse 'not understanding' with having 'nothing to do with'.

@callahan9119 its not a ridiculous analogy, i said i lived in a community, that community was exclusively under the thumb of the religious attitude of the religion. How is that ridiculous in comparition to living in an amish amish community completely under the thumb of THEIR religious attitude?

Perhaps your not familiar with scottish religious practices yourself, look it up and see how deep in went and still does.

As for a 5 minute clip the whole programme was nearly two hours long
