I created this rescore as an experiment.

Using musical themes found in the series 5 soundtrack, I wanted to create a slightly different tonality to what is basically "The Death of River Song." Given the hints and cues that River Song might at some point in the future kill the Doctor, combined with his soon to be downfall as "The TimeLord Victorious" I really wanted to create this rescore almost as an alternative if we had seen this in chronological order.

Plus, it I wanted to create a slightly more foreboding sense of what might happen to Donna at the end of series 4.

Since the series first came back to our screens in 2005, each series has created a larger score and the majority of episodes now very rarely feature any silence. I wanted to combine the reality of silence with some interesting timing in some of the moments here.

Also featured is a mild rescore of the "next time" trailer for Midnight. Taking a few cues from the fifth series approach to ending an episode, I wanted to play on the words "Sweet Dreams Everyone" to create a sense of nightmare.

Hopefully the results will be pleasing for you.

Let me know what you think.

  • hey listen about the time when the doctor places river's diary on the ledge, in the orignal there is this really cool note (a type of a shrill) by a woman. could u pls tell me which soundtrack it's from, pleaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaase. Iv been searching for a long time. iv even subscribed u know

  • @lol55832 All of the songs can be found on the series 5 soundtrack except for the very last piece of music during the "Next Time" trailer, which was taken from the great many ambient stings created by "Two Steps From Hell".

Check back in a few days time and I'll get round to listing the track names and numbers.

  • Which tracks did you use?

  • How do you get rid of the music like that?

  • @TheDoctorForever57

Used DVD Audio Extracter to remove all 6 audio tracks from the DVD and then re-synced the audio (track 3 = Vocals Immediate SFX) to the video. Once that was done, I edit the new music in MixPad and Audacity to create the right levels for each part of the scene.

Got a bit sick of watching "Rescrores" where people had just placed new music over old video without working on it first.

    Hope that helps.

  • This is a really great rescore. It almost makes River Song look more villainous because the music isn't sad; it brings out her cheeky side. I love the use of "I am the Doctor" and "The Life and Death of Amy Pond". Very well done :)

  • They fucked up river son in series 6

  • The music works really well there!

  • @lol55832 In the original its The Doctor's Theme Series 4 from the Series 4 soundtrack by Murray Gold ;)
