This is a response to a few questions I got about how the wheels mount to the rear axle, stay put, and don't rotate independent of the axle. This shows how it bolts together - nothing fancy.

  • where did you get the axle?

i am also making one and it would be greatly appreciated if you could tell me where:)

  • Look for manufacturers supply on the web. They (and many others) sell gokart parts. I think Northern Tool is another place.

  • How do you prevent the axle from sliding from side to side?

  • Each bearing has two set scews that secure them to the axle. I have to keep an eye on them, though - I've had them loosen up in the past, causing the axle to shift and the chain to fall off. That's one of the maintenance items - I check bolts and fasteners from time to time.

  • so the axle doesnt move just the wheel?

  • "taper"

  • ten tooth motor sprocket . What size is the axle sprocket and what is the tire size? what's final drive ratio?

  • I ran a 250 cc Suzuki supercart and I can tell you they are all solid axles. your right about cart differentials, most I've ever seen will handle 8 horse. way under the 66 horse my 250 made(yes, 66 horse on a dyno)

  • i have a lot of hills near my house and i want to build a go kart that would drive me around what size sprockets should i use? i want it to be fast and also have it go up hills ... can you help me?

  • Oh, and the brake is purpose-made for gokarts, and it's hydraulic. Works great, but with the controller's regen braking, it's barely needed.

  • Well then it's a good thing I don't have kids, huh?

If you know of a gokart differential that can take the torque of these electric motors, I'm all ears. I've never seen a gokart with a differential, but I wouldn't say they don't exist. Where might I find one? The kart shown weighs 325 lbs with batteries, and the newer one is over 500 lbs. The 500 lbs kart carries 300 lbs of batteries, and it's been clocked on the GPS at over 60 mph. It goes okay. See my newer vids.

  • Is it safe? they dont like take your money or anything?
