The British Language (A Lesson)

So, first of all, this is something which has been bugging me a long time. Especially in HP fanfic, because, yano, mainstream British fandom with a lot of American fans. So I was bitching about this with my friend Morph (who is not British), and she persuaded me to make this.

Now I remember why I never make recordings. It's because I sound like a twelve-year-old imitating the Queen. Who can't pronounce her Rs. WHERE DID MY 'R'S GO? I HAVE NEVER NOTICED HOW MUCH I SOUND LIKE PONTIUS PILATE!

And I am kind of wishing I never decided to animate this (animate is a very rough word). I mean, yeah, I'm ill at the moment (which is my excuse for a lot of the fail in this video, incidentally; my head is spinning and it makes it hard to concentrate), so I've got time on my hands, but what always eludes me is how I can have the patience to hand-animate a six-minute AMV (I lie, I'm only two minutes into that) but not to make a ten-minute slideshow. So, yeah, I got lazy.

Anyway, this is absolutely not a definitive guide. In fact, as these things go, it's pretty crappy, and there is a SERIOUS limit to how much you can fit into ten minutes. Especially when you can only record in forty-second snippets (I was too lazy to go and find a recording program that didn't hate me). I've obviously missed out a lot, and if there's anything you really are missing from this, comment or message me and I'll try to include it in a later video. And if there's anything I'm completely wrong about (except Glaswegians; some of my best friends are Glaswegians, so don't you go calling me out on that one or I'll send them at you with a broken bottle) then comment with that, too. I won't change the video, being as I am a lazy cow, but it is an easy means of letting people know.

British/Britain is a political entity - it does NOT have its own language. The language spoken is ENGLISH! Also it is NOT a Brythonic language, it is a Germanic language - 80+% is still etymologically Anglo Saxon!

Totally misleading title! English is NOT British. British is a celtic language (Britonic). English is a West-Germanic language which was brought by the Angles and Saxons from Germany to England around 500 AC. Check next time Wikipedia before you create such titles.

This is true. The world are now proudly using the American new words and accents to be the most popular language, for the new gernerations.

In my opinion , british language is much better and clear than american. Sorry to say this . But you can hear it by ur own . This video sucks , but the REAL BRITISH language is really2 good. I'm malaysian , we learnt british-english languages , and I can see that the difference btween british and american is too far
