Please read this before asking me any questions, here are the basics and a little more tid bits, if you need any professional advice I recommend checking with your doctor or piercer first! I PROMISE THIS WILL HELP AS LONG AS YOU READ IT.

Shopping list: (Approximate cost)
Cotton balls - $2
Q-tips- $2
Big bottle of mouth wash- $3
Bactine- $4
Travel sized mouth wash bottle- $1-2
Dial anti bacterial foam soap- $3
Fine seal salt- (Free from piercer or purchase from piercer)
Germ x - $2

Other helpful items to purchase: (and approximent cost)
Vaseline lip care chap stick- $2
Bottles of water- $10
Throat lozenges- $2

= $14

Please purchase all of the items on the list above to ensure that you are taking good care of your lip! Healing on the lip can be as easy as 1 2 3, or as difficult as taking weeks to properly heal and leave nasty scar tissue and pus.

The approximent lip healing time is about 5 weeks- it will take this amount of time before swelling goes down, the crusties stop, and the piercing is no longer tender and capable of being moved easily. AT THIS POINT you can go into your piercer shop and have them check it out and if ready, put in your new bar or ring!

My piercing didn't hurt too much to get, but in the past 5 days I have had a few difficulties like it getting stuck, hit on accident, burning from salt or lemon aid, and so on. If you have the patience to read this it WILL HELP YOU.

The cleaning prosses takes time and patience in order for your lip to heal properly. You don't want to neglect your piercing, but you don't want to overly irritate it and cause a flare up of pain. It really does also depend on your skin sensitivity and pain tolerance.

Keep all of you cleaning items where you will need them. When traveling, purchase ziploc bags for your q-tips or cotton balls or purchase travel size of these items.

Keep your hand sanitizer near you at all times....& NEVER TOUCH YOUR PIERCING WITHOUT HAVING WASHED OR SANTIZING YOUR HANDS FIRST.

1: Sanitize your hands and clear a place on a paper towel
2: Put down 2 cotton balls and 2 q-tips
3: Fill a small glass with 2 pinches of salt and some water
4: Take a swish of mouth wash and swirl it around for 15 seconds, then spit.
5. Take a small amount of salt water and swirl it around for 15 seconds, then spit.
5. Take a cotton ball and wet it with anti bacterial foam soap and water.
6. Gently pat and rub on and around the piercing.
7. Rinse off with a hand full of water or q-tip.
8. Take a cotton ball and set it in the sea salt mixture.
9. Remove and hold against your lip for as long as 2 minutes.
10. Gently touch piercing and move it up and down and side to side in order to make sure its not stuck.
11. Apply your flavorless vaseline chapstick.
12. Break an ice cube and suck on it to make sure your swelling is going down.

REP;EAT MORNING AND NIGHT.

^^ That guide above is the one that I have been using and I highly reccomend it, I am not professional but after research and information from my piercer I found a good routine that does not hurt, does not dry out, and helps the healing proses greatly!

REMEMBER: YOU ALWAYS NEED TO CLEAN YOUR PIERCING AFTER A MAJOR MEAL, this does not involve the whole routine, just the mouth wash and sea salt soak if possible.

For pain; Advil, Ice cubes, and the sea salt soak.

DO NOT smoke, DO NOT drink, and DO NOT engage in anything that involves using your lip piercing. (Kissing &....uh...you know)

If you do smoke you will notice more swelling and pain, if you are willing to take this risk just be sure to clean your piercing well with mouth wash after each and every smoke.

Do not submerge in hot tubs or pool, and be sure not to soak your piercing in hot water of any kind unless you want swelling to occur.

The best advice is to try not to touch and play with it. Below are a few answers to the most likely soon to be common questions.

Q: Does the piercing itself hurt?
A: Yes, in a way it does since its a hollow needle being shoved through your lip. Honestly, the healing prosses hurt more!

Q: How much did it cost?
A: $50. Never have a friend pierce your lip for you!

Q: What should you get your lip pierced with?
A: I reccomend a captive or ring to make it easier to clean.

  • i got my lip pierced 12 - 13 weeks ago, i had a normal bar put it. it healed perfectly.. i decided to change it to a ring, but it gets really irritated and swells up, so i take the ring out, put the bar back in, leave for two weeks and put the ring back in, but it did it again, i can only keep the ring in for about 4 - 5 days before it starts getting really irritated. can anyone help me as to why this is happening?

I got snake bites for 30$, so i paid 15$ for each piercing and it was done by a professional in East LA, and getting you lips pierced doesn't hurt only after you get spider bites, it fken hurts but my friend did it cause she knows how too already and I didn't want to pay another 30$.
