I don't know how many times I've watched this, and it is mesmerizing every time...

@10dutch Oh my goodness. Karaoke singer she is not. Karaoke singers add 'h's' in the middle of words. She is raw and real and cuts right to the core. She cuts like a knive and Donny Hathaway rolls the smooth all over the place. Different types of vocal production with similar results. Magnificent in my opinion!

@10dutch But every single thing you just said can be turned around by somebody who doesn't share your taste in music. Let me give you an example: "I've endured another listen of Hathaway's so called version and to be perfectly honest he's utter garbage!" And again: "Hathaway's nothing more than a karaoke singer." See? You need to provide more than sheer assertion, or else you leave your comments open to being twisted into something against Hathaway, like I just did.

@Alexdurrant7 It's fine that you disagree. However I've endured another listen to her so called version and to be perfectly honest she's utter garbage! I can't see what all the fuss is over her she's nothing more than a karaoke singer. Stating that she does anything better than Donny Hathaway is nothing short of insulting. Whinehouse (Aptly named!) would never have been in Hathaways league vocally if she'd have lived to be a 1000.

@10dutch Disagree. While I think Hathaway's version of 'A Song For You' is better than Amy's, I definitely think she absolutely smashed this one and topped his version. Not that we should be comparing anyway.

she was singing this to blake.

She should have left this well alone. There's only one version of this and it's Donny Hathaway's!

i didnt like her singing this

@Alexdurrant7 I wouldn't say that she had a tiny vocal range. No, she didn't do runs or anything. but she didn't have to. That wasn't her style. Billie had the distinct tone & the awesome ability to sing just behind or above the music and still come out on time which is hard to do if you're not a true singer. Her voice became weak in the end because of the drugs, but even then she still she knew how to sell a song and put it across. She was one of the greats if not the greatest PERIOD.
She may have not gone to Rehab, but she learned well from Mr. Hathaway and it shows in this performance.Amy was not a "Pop star" she was an artist,a legend and legends come along few and far between.RIP Amy...You may be gone, but you will not be forgotten...
