Part 1 Summary: The polls filled up on voting day in Llanview. Langston and Starr, who are still under 18, accompanied Markko and Cole and asked who they planned to vote for. Markko was quiet when Lang asked if he's voting for her adoptive mom. Dorian approached and gave the young men big hugs. When she saw Marty, however, she gave the shrink the cold shoulder. Markko's conservative parents showed up and said they'd seen the big gay wedding on TV. Mr. Rivera wasn't sure why "these people" had to parade their lifestyles around, a remark that peeved Langston. Dorian returned and introduced her "partner" Amelia. The campaign manager-turned-wife proudly announced that Dorian will legalize yesterday's unions once she's voted mayor, which drove Markko's parents away. Dorian told Markko that she hopes he's an independent thinker! He is, Langston assured Dorian, tossing a look in Markko's direction. But after Markko voted, he refused to reveal his choice for mayor.
Gigi ran into Schuyler, and said she'd done some Web research on her couples counseling and found that her "feelings" for Schuyler are just a symptom that she and Rex need counseling. Schuyler insisted that he and Gigi kissed because they wanted to. Gigi pointed out that he'll have no time to woo her if he goes to medical school, a suggestion that he found pretty ludicrous. Noelle came over to say hi to Gigi and caught on that something's troubling her and it's not the election. Comparing relationships to muffin mix, Noelle doled out a little love advice. Afterward, Gigi faced the voting booth, and imagined that she saw Schuyler and Rex's names in the place of Viki and Dorian.
Just as Viki was telling Charlie and Clint that Nat needed some time away, John questioned the hotel clerk in Michigan who lied about Natalie and Rex's next move. When the guy refused to talk, John brought in a local cop to get him to cooperate. Meanwhile, Rex and Natalie arrived at Nash's abandoned cottage in Napa and were surprised to come face to face with Jessica. She explained that the voice on the call she got matched Nash's, and even though she knows Nash is dead, she felt she had to find out what was going on in Napa. Rex advised the girls to tell the police what's going on, but Natalie wanted to wait. Meanwhile, John returned to Llanview and informed Viki, Clint and Charlie that Natalie and Rex are chasing a lead on Jared.
Brody woke up tied to a chair and called out to his sister, who explained that she couldn't let him leave. Rex suddenly received a call from Aunt Corrine, who claimed she had cancer and wanted to tell him once and for all who his father is. She promised to tell Rex the whole story before she dies, and said she was staying with a friend in the "old neighborhood." Rex got off the phone and shared the terrible news with Nat and Jess. In Michigan, Corrine walked into the very room where Nadine was keeping Brody captive. Natalie pretended to call John and assured Rex that they would be fine, insisting that he go to Corrine. Once he was gone, Natalie informed Jessica that she didn't actually call John and doesn't plan to.
Fish and Kyle had spent the entire night gabbing, and Fish admitted that he hadn't even been on a date since he and Kyle broke up. Kyle officially asked him out, to Fish's delight. They professed their love for one another and sealed it with a kiss. At the polls, Kyle ran into Nick and apologized for hurting him. It pained Nick to say so, but he wished Kyle and Fish happiness.
Starr and Schuyler shared an awkward exchange in which she apologized for getting him into trouble with the school and said she really wants him to be happy. He informed her that he's applying to medical school, then looked back in Gigi's direction. Starr later asked Cole if he was okay with seeing her talk to her former teacher, and he was fine with it. "It's always been you, Cole," she smiled, reaching for his hand. Marty approached Gigi and asked why she and Rex hadn't started their counseling yet, and Gigi explained that Rex is visiting a sick aunt. Marty suggested that Gigi get a head start on her own. When she later met up with John, Marty mentioned that Rex is visiting his ailing aunt in Michigan, which sent up a red flag for John. Meanwhile, Rex arrived at Nadine's, while Natalie told Jess that whoever was at that cottage will return soon. Rex tended to his aunt, who urged him to have a cup of tea. Nadine watched closely as Rex sipped the tainted tea. Meanwhile, Viki arrived at the polls and left a frantic message for Natalie. Charlie told her to focus on the election and let her grown daughter take care of herself. In front of the cameras, Dorian offered her opponent a handshake and said, "May the best person win."
Oh, look. Jess, Nat, and Rex together. Hmmm...
CHANGE IT BACK!
