"Survival Doc" of TheNewSurvivalist.com finds Japanese Beetles in his grape vines in late June in Eastern Missouri. This video shows how to identify this serious garden pest and discusses how to naturally control it.
I'm in western Missouri and we've got 'em here too. I pull as many off as I can and feed them to my chickens. They scramble to gobble them up. I've seem them mostly in my watermelon and bean patch. I don't think they've got to my grapes yet.
I covered my grapes this year with crop fabric. They can't reach the leaves. Garden's Alive sells it by the foot. Leaves look good and my yard is loaded with the little bastards.
We have got those enoying pests here in Wisconsin too. The "Bag A Bug" set up is the way to go along with a bucket of soapy water.Did you know that they hang underneath the leaves and if their nudged they'll freefall and play dead...? hope they like soapy water... here's the link.
