In Chicago, Illinois (or any other Soviet jurisdiction), the old man would have been sent to prison for years, for "felony gun possession," his Second Amendment rights would have been violated, and the state and ATF would try to loot his estate. (Of course, if the old man was found with drugs, then the anti-republic Republican party of Florida would have done the same thing to him, even if noone's rights were violated.)
