it could have been used by the Russians after they captured it...seeing how they didn't have a great supply of nagants (not to mention the Mosin Nagant is a piece of you-know-what when compared to the Mauser)

damn...i am surprised your Mauser still has the cleaning rod. My Russian capture is missing that, along with the locking screws for the trigger guard. Anyways...nice looking rifles!

It's actually an 1891 Argentine Mauser, made in 1893, all matching, minty. I can see how they look similar tho.
