  • Actually Mia did not die from being fat. She died from a blood clot that traveled to her heart after knee surgery. You should read the facts before making assumptions.

  • While PLUS Model Magazine respects the right to voice your opinion, we do not agree with everything that Meme says or the way that she generalizes. Not every fat person is unhealthy and not every skinny person is healthy.

  • Mia is soooo sexy...

  • @PLUSModelMagazine

According to the American Society of Hematology, obesity is a serious risk factor in blood clotting. Its tragic when a person dies at such a young age but we need to stop living in denial about the very real dangers of obesity.

  • Yes, soda, sweetened drinks, ex: Starbucks, all should be taxed. People have made a lifestyle out of eating and drinking themselves into obesity. It is up to us to make that change and get healthy. America is not a third world country, but Americans are collectively so unhealthy because of how they eat...its on us entirely. Fast food corporations bank on our eating addictions. Smoking is no longer our public health hazard after cigarrettes got taxed, its now obesity.

  • she didnt die because shes fat? i guess her knee injury had nothing to do with the fact her body has swelled to 3X her normal size. also being obese increases your chance of blood clotting. i dont mean to be insensitive but isnt it ironic mia is saying how healthy she is and then dies soon after. wake up fatties , your living a life that is not in alignment with god/nature.

  • This plus size model needs to stop using herself and her friends as an example of how overweight people can be healthy. Lets get real, most overweight-obese people are a lot more prone to greater health risks than their thinner counterparts.

  • I'm sorry but to the people saying Mia is/was more attractive than either of the other two women...they're mentally unstable.

  • And another point: the very limited study stated in the interview (as in most interviews by people merely trying to prove their belief) can most likely be counteracted by 10 other studies to the contrary. Smokers are actually major burdens on society's wallet, but they don't have to own up to it--they can just blame "Big Tobacco". Now that's a crock.

Men's Health magazine has actually had articles discussing how some very fit athletes in different sports are considered obese.

  • In addition, as others have stated in the comments, she has a bullying mentality and you can clearly see from her statements and almost hysterical attitude when someone makes a counter statement that she has some disturbing issues. Was she criticized by her parents or classmates growing up? Was there some horrible memory from her past that was based on her weight? We may never know, but I guess she's entertainment to have on the other side of this debate.

  • Oh, MeMe Roth is good for a laugh. She's great to call on these shows because she's almost like a child that's having a rant--so that gives good television because she keeps just trying to say the opposite of what the other people are saying. And not backed up with many facts (her "credentials" have already been picked apart by various sites online). She's stating current fitness world rhetoric--not anything that you or I couldn't see by picking up the latest Shape or Men's Health magazine.

  • i agree with Mia, RIP, she needs to stop targeting overweight people and seem to blame them. It is destructive psychologically. Yes I agree we need to have an active lifestyle and eat healthy food, but the way Ms. Roth doing this is psychologycally bullying and will create more weight issue to already young girls, especially, with eating disorder issues. Ms. Roth needs to find a better strategy. Stop attacking on the obese but try to support more active lifestyle and good nutrient for our kids.

  • Furthermore, as a gay man, I am offended that she says we have it easy because we can just "play straight" and hide our sexual orientation.

  • I'm sorry, Mia does not come off as very intelligent in this debate. Meme is very clearly promoting a society in which we make the nutritional information of food as available as possible, make healthy food as accessible as possible, and discourage an unhealthy lifestyle. Mia calls this discrimination against overweight people? I think she is either missing the mark on purpose, or is not smart enough to understand it.
