A 'journalistic' piece on Qantas' outsourcing maintenance practices which implies that outsourced work done by SIA Engineering Company and Lufthansa Technik is substandard.
In an article in 'The Australian' newspaper, SIAEC has said that a "thorough review of its maintenance records showed it had carried out no such repairs in the aircraft locations identified by Qantas."
William Tan, CEO of SIAEC told The Australian, "These allegations are not new. We've gone through them before, except for the staples, and every single allegation has been proven false not by us but by (the Civil Aviation Safety Authority)."
Mr. Tan also added: "The staples were found 10 months after the aircraft left the facility"
Steve Purvinas, federal secretary of the Australian Licensed Aircraft Engineers Association told The Australian, "The Singapore engineers are trained to pretty much the exact same level as the Australian guys and they are just as good as we are" (more)

this is all bullsht. obviously some people r so racist into saying that azn can work on their aircraft, especially singapore. singapore airline engineering actually has higher standards than that of qantas engineering, which is y u would had never heard of any singapore airline incident. racist much? if ur so prejudiced, get out of singapore or any other asian country and maintain it somewhere else!
YOu know what.... I think they're blaiming asian countries for what happened to their planes?!? well let me tell you if you don't like the eengineering of Asian countries( particularly the philippines cuz i came from there) then y don't you take your airline to some western countries......
Qantas aircrafts comes in to other destinations with tonnes of defects even being released from home base Australia. Need i say more. Its just airline rivalry. Aircraft maintenence in asia meets international standards. So dont listen to the crap
Those pictures could have just been forged! Would qantas actually release those photos? I highly doubt it. Would a qantas engineer release it? they probably wouldn't because they would most likely lose their job.
This video is stupid like most of today tonights stories. Airlines like Qantas, Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific, etc have all got very good safety records and the public have complete confidence in their safety.
Airline crashs are rare, high quality stories from today tonight are even rarer!
im from the philippines but come on.. a LAME signing 52 hours of work for a shift? thats just stretching it too much.. I do think work in Singapore is over rated. Ill be honest. here in the Philippines they even hire guys to go to Singapore with less than 2 years experience. Before, the minimum was 5 years. but since they cant get any more guys they lower it to a year.bringing down wages and also the quality of work.Aside from that a lot of engineers there think they are really good! god help us
I also don't really trust this, once I know aussies do a good job! but I meant that: nowadays enterprises just want to get more more more (sounds like britney spears hehe) and because of their despear for money, people pay for their actions!
