How to tun any lens into a macro lens

In this video i am using a canon rebel with the 18-55 starter lens.
The technique is very easy you just set the focal length to 35mm and the focas to the closes focas and put the lens on backward. To focas you have to move the whole camera body and lens back and forth or up and down. This gives you about 3:1 magnification. so for every 1cm in real life it is 3 cm on the image sensor.

Like everyone says, a nice $10 reverse ring would be a better way to go. Holding it by hand like this is a bit nuts.

@mainegirl1985 i would advise against still using that technique, its a great way to destroy your sensor by allowing a space for dust to get on to it.and risking a scratch on the inside part of the lens that is normally hidden in the camera when its mounted. if you're going to have to focus by moving back and forth, you might as well spend like 8-13 bucks on a macro tube. you can use it with any lens, get great macro shots and not ruin your camera or lens
