The ending makes you realize how fuck-up life is, Pacino character understood that. DeNiro and crew weren't bad guys, they just wanted the simple things in life everyone deserves and that's having enough money to enjoy life like the rich 1%. The only evil person in their crew was Waingro, he was pure evil. DeNiro and crew didn't want to live the life of the 99% which is a life of slavery. In this scene Pacino character was in reflection of his own life, his troubled daughter and troubled wife.

@NERV1233 Everyone has their own opinions but I think a happy everyone gets what they want and turns out ok kind of ending is cheesy. It lets you like both the protagonist and antagonist instead of the same old good guy and bad guy script. It isn't so often that in a movie you build a relationship with all characters involved but this movie did that great. When they were having coffee together that also kind of told you, someone has to go down thats just the way it is.

This scene is amazing it speaks to you in a way that can't be described in words. When the music starts to play when Deniro starts to die both pacino and Deniro communicated with their expressions how they both felt. It was like Deniro although was dying he felt finally at peace. I don't think he liked his work anymore and all he really wanted was a normal life. Pacino in a way as well. It was fate and neither wanted to kill each other. In another lifetime they wouldve been friends.

the last shot where pacino holds roberts hand is just pure art ... i wish that would be available as a poster or a painting or at least a hd screen wallpaper ...
